Kishore wins Ocean View golf tourney

Teenaged players had another field day ahead of the Guyana Open billed for next month when Avinda Kishore won last Saturday’s Ocean View International Hotel sponsored Medal Play golf tournament at the Lusignan Golf Course.

The 14-year-old Kishore, who recently won the European Union-sponsored tournament, showed true potential in securing a winning score of net 67 after recording a gross 83 playing off a handicap 16.

Joann Deo (handicap 33) winner of last weekend’s Ansa McAl tournament continued her impressive showing to claim the runner up position in recording a gross 101 to finish with a net 68. Deo also had the best net among the female players.

Third place was taken by Alfred Mentore (handicap 8) who had a gross 77 to end with a net 69.
For the second week running former Guyana Open men’s champion Avinash Persaud (handicap 3) recorded the best gross of 76.

The Nearest to the Pin prize went to Kasim Khan.

General Manager of Ocean View International Hotel, Petal Ridley presented the prizes to the outstanding players.

The tournament once again attracted a large field of players and officials of the Lusignan Golf Club expressed gratitude to Ocean

Ocean View Hotel for their support for the tournament.

Meanwhile the LGC will announce the sponsors for this year’s Guyana Open shortly.  The local championships will take place on November 15 and 16 at Lusignan and will attract golfers from Guyana, North America and the Caribbean.
