Successful junior badminton team returns

The Guyana Badminton Association’s junior team returned from participation at the Suriname Junior International championships from November 13-17 with four gold, five silver and 10 bronze medals.

Narayan and Priyanna Ramdhani competing in the boys and girls’ U13 and U11 categories captured six medals each.

Narayan Ramdhani copped three titles the boys’ U11 singles, boys’ doubles (with Suriname’s J.Del Prado) and mixed doubles with sister Priyanna. In the U13 category, Narayan Ramdhani captured silver medals in the boys’ singles and doubles (with Andrew Peroune) and a bronze medal in the mixed doubles with Priyanna Ramdhani. Priyanna Ramdhani gained bronze medals in the girls U-11 singles and doubles (with Suriname’s A.Baldew). She also got bronze medals in the girls’ U13 singles and in the doubles with Kristio Singh of Trinidad and Tobago.

Andrew Peroune gained a bronze medal in the boys’ U13 singles while Nicholas Ali gained a silver medal in the boys’ U17 singles and bronze medals in the U17 and U19 doubles with Avian Rodrigues.

Meanwhile the GBA said it was pleased with the performances of the players who showed vast improvements when compared to last year’s performance at the event.
The GBA said it wanted to thank BK International, C&V Shipping, Guyoil, the National Sports Commission, Conrad Plummer and Alvin Seaforth their assistance which made participation at the tournament possible.
