Eddy Grant’s father dies

Patrick Alexander Grant, father of Guyanese international recording superstar Eddy Grant passed away yesterday morning at the St Joseph Mercy Hospital.

Grant, who would have celebrated his 88th birthday on February 20, was a diabetic, this newspaper learned. He recently had an amputation done, from which he apparently never recovered.

He is survived by his wife and several children, three of whom – Eddy, Rudy and Alpine – are musicians. Eddy, who is on a world tour at the moment may have to take a break and return home for his father’s funeral.
