Break and enter accused tells court:

A 38-year-old labourer was yesterday remanded to prison when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court to answer the charge of break and enter and larceny.

It is alleged that on May 15 and 16 at Georgetown, Junior Munroe of 48 Hadfield Street broke and entered the storeroom of Liang Ming Zen and stole items valued at $737,960, property of the said Liang Ming Zen. Munroe pleaded not guilty to the charge.

When given a chance to respond, the defendant told the court that he was innocent of the charge laid against him. “My Worship, I innocent, me ain’t do none a dem things wah de police lock me up fuh.”

Police Prosecutor Denise Griffith, however, objected to bail on the grounds that the defendant is not a first offender.

The unrepresented Munroe was remanded to prison and has to return to court on May 29.
