It is alleged that on May 23 at Georgetown, Sakdar Sookdeo of Uitvlugt Ocean View, West Coast Demerara, unlawfully and maliciously wounded Colin Lawrence with the intention of killing the said Colin Lawrence.

Sookdeo was not required to plead to the indictable charge when it was read to him.
When given a chance to respond, Sookdeo asked the Magistrate to grant him bail.
“Meh worship, ah jus asking fuh grant meh bail.”

Police Corporal Munilall Seetaram objected to bail on the grounds that the virtual complainant (VC) is still hospitalised and is in a critical condition.

According to Seetaram, the accused and the VC had an argument which ended in a physical altercation when Sookdeo injured him with a pitch fork.

The defendant was subsequently refused bail and remanded to prison. He is to attend the Leonora Magistrate’s Court on June 23.
