AFC gearing up for congress

The AFC on Wednesday announced that preparatory work has started for its 2nd Biennial Conference, to be held in July.

The Conference would be held on Saturday July 25, at the Ocean View International Hotel and Conference Centre, which is expected to be host to over 500 delegates and observers from all ten regions and several chapters in the Diaspora along with special invitees and guests.

According to a statement from the party, the conference would see elections for office bearers-the Leader, Chairman, General Secretary, Treasurer and 12 Committee Members who all comprise its National Executive Committee. The new Executive would be charged with managing the party’s affairs for the next two years.

The party will utilise the Electoral College system for the identification of delegates at the conference. It noted that local government and general elections are among the issues to be discussed.

The last AFC Biennial Congress was held on July 27, 2007 at the St. Stanislaus College.
