An 18-year-old boy who is accused of stabbing a man with a scissors, resulting in him being hospitalized, was remanded to prison  by Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

Ronald Abrams of Pike Street, North Sophia, was not required to plead to the indictable charge of attempted murder. He is accused of attempting to murder Lennox Mendonza on July 4.

Abrams said that on the day in question he was just defending himself. He said that Mendonza and his cousin entered his yard with a scissors and were threatening him. He stated further that an argument ensued that resulted in a scuffle with him and the men. He noted that it was during the scuffle that Mendonza was stabbed with his own scissors.

The prosecution informed the court that Mendonza was still hospitalized.

The magistrate subsequently ordered that the teen be remanded to prison and that he return to court on July 15.
