A jilted 22-year-old man of Number 45 Village, Corentyne died at the New Amsterdam Hospital around 5:30 am yesterday after reportedly ingesting a poisonous substance and his ex-lover has since been taken into custody.

Kublall `Boi’ Rambrich who was admitted to the New Amsterdam Hospital around 11:30 pm on Saturday was reportedly found in the home of his ex-lover in the village with a cutlass on the same night.

Police sources told this newspaper that the woman overpowered the man and took away the cutlass and dealt him a chop on his left hand.

The woman who is married and has a child said that the man subsequently left the home and ingested the poison. Her husband was not at home at the time of the incident.

However Rambrich’s father is alleging that his son told him that the woman and her relative gave him “something” to drink.
