A 44-year-old man who had chopped another man to his face with a cutlass was put on a two-year bond to keep the peace when he appeared before Acting Chief Magistrate Melissa Robertson yesterday at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court

Trevor Bahadur of Lot 189 Middle Road, La Penitence was accused of unlawfully and maliciously wounding Linden Macy on September 7.

Bahadur’s lawyer stated that he was the proprietor of a small business and he had no previous convictions.

The lawyer said Macy had indicated that he was willing to resolve the matter if he were compensated with $50,000 for his medical expenses. The lawyer noted that the men were friends.

Macy corroborated what the lawyer stated and said that he was chopped to his face with a cutlass by Bahadur. He said that the chop sliced his lips and chin.

Bahudur subsequently handed over the $50,000 and was escorted out of the court by a policeman after he had signed the two-year peace bond.
