No matter race or religion, all Guyanese should light a diya to symbolize the national motto, One People, One Nation, One Destiny, says C.N. Sharma, Leader of the Justice For All Party. Extending Deepavali greetings to the entire nation, especially the Hindu community, Sharma notes that on this very auspicious day when Hindus remember the return from exile of Lord Rama and his reuniting with his subjects, he feels strongly that Guyanese should unite as one and help to fight the numerous problems in the country.
Sharma urges, “Let us take a page out of Lord Rama’s quest for the triumph of good over evil and do the same to rid this land of all evil forces at work.”
