Magistrate Hazel Octive-Hamilton last Friday ordered that a 25-year-old mason be remanded to prison when he appeared before her at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court for allegedly using a gun to rob another man of a quantity of cash and a cell phone.

Jermaine Peters of Block ‘X’ Liliendaal, East Coast Demerara,  entered a not guilty plea to the charge of robbery under arms.

He denied that on November 25 at De Young Ferry Service, Wismar, Linden, he used a gun to rob Ronney Johnson of $8,000 in cash and a cell phone valued $4,500.

The prosecution told the court that the address that Peters had given the court differs from the one that he had given the police after he was arrested and it may be difficult to locate him if released.

The case was transferred to the Christiansburg Magistrate’s Court for December 8.
