Lorrie Ann Adams, administrative manager of GWTV CH2 said that she received a call from the neighbour informing her that the tower at 103 David Rose Street and Cane View Avenue, South Ruimveldt Gardens had fallen. She said that earlier in the night the operator at the station had called and told her that the tower was swaying.
The reports from the guard and the neighbour suggest that the tower fell after a flash of lightning during an early morning downpour. Repairs to the 300-ft tower, according to Adams, are expected to cost over $1M. Adams said that this is just a preliminary estimate and does not include the cost of repairs to the neighbour’s building.
Adams said that reconstruction is expected to begin within a week and the channel is expected to be back on the air within three to four weeks. She further added that a 250-ft tower will be constructed.

Meanwhile, the neighbour, who gave her name as Grace, said that she had gotten up around 3:30-4:30 in the morning to check the windows after the rain began to fall. She said that after a flash of lightning she heard a “bram, bram, crash” which was the tower falling.
The fallen transmission tower took out the power around the area and when this paper visited the area workmen could be seen dismantling the tower while cables were strewn on the road with a GPL truck nearby and technicians checking the power lines.
