How will the next chapter in Guyana’s history be written?

Dear Editor,
As I read the breaking news of the recent week, a couple of questions are swirling in my head. Is there a connection between the explosive revelations from the Roger Khan trial in the US and the fire-bombing of the Ministry of Health buildings in Georgetown? More importantly, is there a connection between Khan’s phantom group and other top-level government officials? And, is Dr Leslie Ramsammy merely an innocent victim of a grandiose conspiracy or a smear campaign directed against him? For those individuals who have and will continue to blindly support the PPP through thick and thin, these questions may not jolt their consciousness, and life will go on as expected, even in the face of continuous fallout from the trial or more abuse meted out to suspected arsonists. But for the thinking person, who may still hold out hope that Guyana is not yet a failed state or a distressed nation in deep decline, the ultimate question must be asked: How will the next chapter in this nation’s history be written?
Yours faithfully,
Baytoram Ramharack
