Linden commerce chamber elects new executive

The Linden Chamber of Industry, Commerce and Development (LCICD) elected a new executive committee at its AGM held on Tuesday at the Region Ten Business Centre.

In a press release the LCICD said Marvin Burns was elected president, Courtney Handy, senior vice president, Nolan Walton, junior vice president, Sheena Bristol, secretary, Neil Fraser, treasurer and Gerald Whittington assistant secretary/treasurer.

In his address, Burns thanked outgoing president Basil Jaipaul for his efforts over the years, acknowledging the many difficulties and constraints that he operated under. He pledged that the new executive will cooperate to make the Chamber more visible and available to its members in order to address issues hampering economic progress in the community.

The new committee will serve for two years. Its first statutory meeting will be held on August 26.
