This song degrades women

Dear  Editor,

I write to express my dissatisfaction at the promotion of an “artiste” on Channel Nine through a song with the following lines:
“Woman want money, any money it ain’t funny, put you finger in she honey” and more, it is a misuse of our culture when you have to promote a song or poetry degrading women in this suggested way, this song is no better/different from the one sung by the Mighty Sparrow who sang “every now and then you cuff them down they love you long and they love you strong”. This strong urge for persons to continue to dehumanise our women who in the first place gave them life must not be condoned and the radio and television stations should begin to censor these pieces. Please Channel Nine, don’t be an accomplice to this kind of vulgarity.

Yours faithfully,
