KINGSTON, Jamaica, CMC – Jamaican sprint sensation Usain Bolt will open his 2010 season at a local meeting at the National Stadium on February 13.

Bolt, who cut his season short last year after dominating the short sprint events, will again start the season with a 400-metre race at the Camperdown Classic.

The triple Olympic and World Championships champion and world record holder won this event last season when he cruised to 46.35 seconds.

A number of his Racers Track Club teammates, including rising star Yohan Blake, who finished second to him in the event last year will also compete at the meeting.

Meanwhile, Bolt has also decided begin his campaign in the inaugural IAAF Diamond League series with the June 12 event in New York.

The 23-year-old will compete over the 100 metres at the Adidas Grand Prix, formerly known as the Reebok Grand Prix, which will be the fifth stop on the Diamond League circuit.

The meeting will be Bolt’s first appearance in the United States since he set his first world record of 9.72 seconds over this event in 2008 and he is looking forward to making a return.

“I am looking forward to returning to the Big Apple in June,” Bolt said.

“New York was the site of my first world record, the track is lightning fast and the fans, well, they sat through an entire thunderstorm in 2008 just to watch the 100 so I know they appreciate speed,” added Bolt, the reigning two-time IAAF Male Athlete of the Year award winner.
