Deadline for registration for Hugh Ross Classic is tomorrow

Bodybuilders who are looking to compete in the second Hugh Ross Classic Bodybuilding and Fitness show have until tomorrow to register for what is anticipated to be an exciting event.

The Hugh Ross Classic, Guyana’s biggest bodybuilding show will take place on Friday at the National Cultural Centre.

Coordinator of the event Leroy George told Stabroek Sport that the response so far has been good adding that he was expecting a record turnout.

The best male bodybuilders will clash Friday night in five categories with the respective winners facing off in the battle for the Mr. Hugh Ross Title.

Female bodybuilders will face off in the Ms. Fitness Open competition.

The male categories are Bantamweight: up to 65kg inclusive (143 lbs); Lightweight: up to 70kg inclusive (144lbs -154lbs); Welterweight: up to 75kg inclusive (155 lbs – 165lbs); Light-Middleweight: up to 80kg inclusive (166 lbs -176lbs) and Heavyweight: 177 lbs and over.

The Organising Committee has taken a decision not to allow the respective male and female champions of the inaugural competition in 2008 to compete again.

As such, a keen battle is anticipated with many new and exciting bodybuilders waiting in the wings to prove that they are the best among their peers.

The inaugural Hugh Ross Classic was won by Mark ‘Uno’ Perry while Alicia Fortune took the female Open crown.  Interested persons can contact George on telephone number 621- 8403.
