Greaves who had dominated the category in earlier years was not able to defend his title last year because he was competing in Trinidad and Tobago. However, he came back this year to upstage defending champion Robin Persaud, and clocked victory in one hour, 28 minutes and 37 seconds; he also claimed two of the eight prime prizes.
Persaud rode in second and took home four prime prizes, while third-placed Daniel Ramchurejee copped the remaining two. The next three podium positions were taken by Junior Niles and Enzo Mathews and Alex Mendes.
In the veteran over-50 category Kirkwood Kellman, from Linden, won first place followed by Courtney Thomas in second place and Robert Beaton in third. Davendra Ramnarine came out ahead of the field in the veteran under-50, as well as winning the prime prize of the race.
Ramnarine was trailed by Shameer Baksh and Junior Niles in second and third places, respectively.
Kurt La Rose triumphed in the Juvenile category while second and third place winners, Paul DeNobrega and Regan Gibbons each rode in with a prime prize.
In the upright category Davindra Bissoon was too good for the rest of his competitors. However, it was second place Mario King who won the prime prize and Mark Harris, on his first appearance in the event, came in third.
Harris returned for another third in the BMX 6–9 category, succeeded by Kristoff Chislom in first place and Dinishwar Ragubeer in second. Ragubeer then claimed his victory of the day in the 9–12 category ahead of Deeraj Garbarran who came in second and Nicholas Nandan third.
The winner of the BMX 12–14 race was Nicholas Alves with Darius Alves second and Christopher Griffith third, while Kwesi Headley earned first place in the BMX open race followed by Sherwin Forde and Davenand Bissoon respectively.
In the12–14 year-old age group first place went to Naomi Singh while Tariq Baksh claimed second place.
Manager of the sponsor, Shameer Baksh, himself a veteran competitor, presented the prizes to the winners.
