Desa, Benjamin, Reece and Millington shine at GBTI Corriverton Cycle Event

Dellon Desa, Gary Benjamin, Neil Reece and Ray Millington were among the top prize winners when the Guyana Bank for Trade and Industry (GBTI) held its  annual Corriverton Cycle Event last Sunday.

The event, which commenced at the GBTI Corriverton Branch, was open to all cyclists and consisted of  two road races with trophies and monetary prizes awarded to 15 positions in four categories.

There were also seven sprint prizes.

This was the branch’s fourth annual cycle event organized to encourage cyclists in Corriverton and across Guyana.

In the junior category, Dellon Desa won from Neil Reece and Nashane Jaundoo in second and third place, respectively.

The trio also participated in the Open category with  Desa placing second to Gary Benjamin while Rohan Persaud finished third.

Reece, Wazim Hasnoo and Jaundoo, occupied the next three positions.

Prizes were awarded to each of the top six cyclists.

Benjamin also won the veterans category with Eon Mc Bean second.

Meanwhile, the second group of races featured BMX cyclists pedaling away from the No. 62 Toll Station to the GBTI Bank.

The winner was Millington with Elijah Bijadder second place, Victor Henry, third and Bryan Harris fourth.

Sprint prizes went to Benjamin, Reece, Desa, Hasnoo, and Rohan Persaud.

Following the races, the awardees were presented with their honors in a brief presentation ceremony.

Branch Manager Naresh Balkaran, addressing the cyclists, special invitees and spectators, expressed the bank’s appreciation to the participants and the community for their support of the event.

Balkaran noted that banking services were not the only way in which GBTI was serving the community.

He affirmed the bank’s commitment to honor its social responsibility through similar community activities not only in Berbice but across the country.
