Twenty Universities from Canada, the US, the Caribbean and the UK gathered at Nations University on Thursday for the first International Education Fair in Guyana.
According to a statement from Nations University, the Universities represented included Ryerson University, University of New Brunswick, Lynn University, Humber College, UOIT, Wilfred Laurier, Centennial, Seneca College from Canada and SCAD, Flagler College, Art Institute, Fanshawe College, State University of New York, University of South Florida, Brockport University, Long Island University from the US, and St Georges University, University of South Caribbean, The University of Technology and Greenheart University from the Caribbean. Also represented were Cambridge University, London University and the Australian Institute of Business and the ACCA programme at Nations University.
The programme was opened by the newly-appointed US Ambassador to Guyana Brent Hardt, who spoke about the educational opportunities in the United States. The American Consul also held two workshops during the day on how to obtain student visas.
The programme was organised by Nations University in collaboration with the Council of International Schools (CIS). The statement said Brandy Fransen, one of the representatives of CIS, spoke at the opening of her satisfaction of seeing so many leading educational institutions from North America and the Caribbean region gathered in Guyana. She was one of the key figures in organising the fair and encouraged her colleagues to add Guyana to the long list of the countries they visit in the region.
