Matter is not sub judice

Dear Editor,

I only just read Dr Cox’s response to your request for a comment on my letter in your July 31 edition (‘Matter is subjudice’) .  I have too much respect for Dr Cox personally to believe that she actually read the writs in question before arriving at the judgment that the matter regarding the illegal admissions of a number of students to the UG LLB programme is “sub judice.’  It is most certainly not.

I will not dignify Dr Cox’s provocative remarks of “ignorance” and “mal-intent” by responding in kind, except to say that it seems to be a desperate and misguided attempt to evade the real issue which is that UG Vice-Chancellor, Professor Carrington, and Registrar, Mr Alexander, have failed and/or refused to deal appropriately with the issues of illegal admissions and the creation of the illegal classification of ‘provisional registration.’  I maintain that these issues are not presently before the courts, because they first have to be dealt with by UWI and the CLE.

Yours faithfully,
Professor Eversley
