Dear Editor,
The day of truth is almost here. Elections will determine who the populace has confidence in. That would be good. We will no more hear the immature outburst of some politicians and the empty promises of some of them, and there will be an end to the baiting by some politicians of the simple and uneducated people.
It is hoped that the government will issue stern reminders that all rum shops and bars must be closed on the 28th and continue to be closed on the 29th.
Also, life has to go on; there must be continuity in whatever projects are in progress, regardless of who won the election. People must not be taken for granted; they will not be fooled by promises. Those who forget the past are condemned to repeat it.
I am appalled at how our reporters seem unable to estimate the size of a crowd at a meeting. Is it the case of them doing the correct estimate but having it edited/altered in the editorial room? If we say that politics is a dirty game the same can be said of reporting during this season.
However, let good judgement prevail on Elections Day.
