Winners in Linden Stag Beer 7-A-Side street football receive prizes

In a simple ceremony yesterday, ANSA McAl rewarded the top finishers of their 7-A-Side street football inter-ward tournament which was sponsored under the company’s Stag beer brand.

Ansa McAl’s Marketing Assistant John Maikoo lauded the event, calling it a major success and noted that his company, ANSA McAl is  committed to making it an annual event given the support shown for the inaugural staging.

The tournament which featured approximately 30 teams from the various communities in Linden, was won by Team 25 from the Central Mackenzie Area who defeated Silver City’s ‘Silver Bullets’ 2-1 on penalty shoot-out in the finals after the two sides ended regulation and extra time goalless.
Team 25’s captain Ruel Williams collected the tournament’s first prize of $200,000 from Maikoo while Leon Clement received the runners-up prize of $100,000 for Silver Bullets.

Amelia’s Ward’s Rough and Rugged collected $50,000 for finishing in third place after defeating team Hard Knocks from Blueberry Hill/Christianburg 2-1, also in extra time on penalty kicks. Their captain Mickail Rigby collected the cheque on behalf of the team.
