Hits and Jams ‘Cranks Up’ for Mash

Hits and Jams, as usual, is taking first jump on Mashramani activities this year and will kick things off with the first of several concerts next weekend.

The ‘Mash Crank Up’ concert is set for January 29 at GNS ground with Barbadian soca star Edwin Yearwood and his band Krosfyah set to headline the event.

In the lead up to Mashramani, Hits and Jams has set up its camp at the GNS ground; the ground will also double as the party spot for a string of entertainment events as outlined in a schedule released by the group.

In a press release issued earlier this week Kerwin Bollers, explained that they have opted to create a new concept this year in an effort to instigate the mood of merriment and revelry and “infect” Guyanese with the spirit of celebration for Mash 2011.

Bollers said that patrons can expect the same level of consistency with an extra treat as the team has opted to provide Guyanese with, “not one but five weeks of back to back activities preceding the annual Mash celebrations”.

Last year Hits and Jams pulled off the ‘Machel for Mash’ concert, which was unarguably the best soca concert in 2010. There are reports that Machel Montana is a likely import for the celebrations again this year.

The list of events as released by the group includes: the Mash Crank up – January 29; Jeans Party- February 5; Colours (party) – February 12; Ladies First (party) – February 18; All White Edition- February 22; Mash Night Super Concert- February 23 and the Mash Wash Down- February 27.
