Kariako Village gets $4M pick-up

The Ministry of Amerindian Affairs has provided a $4M double-cab Hilux pick-up truck to Kariako Village, Region One to assist with transporting children to school and produce to markets.

Amerindian Affairs Minister Pauline Sukhai presented the vehicle to Toshao Lewis Samuels at a brief ceremony held outside her Thomas Street office on Thursday.

The vehicle was purchased with funds from the community’s Presidential Grant and it is expected to establish a management committee to maintain it, a press release from the Government Information Agency (GINA) said. The minister said she expects that the vehicle will be used for its intended purposes
GINA said Samuels thanked the government for the vehicle, noting that it will alleviate transportation woes in several respects.
