Police say that at about 0830h yesterday, a woman reported to the police at the Divisional Headquarters at Cove & John, ECD, that she had been sexually assaulted by a Police Constable at the Enmore Police Outpost during the morning of Sunday July 01, 2012.
The woman had been arrested by the Police on Saturday June 30, 2012, and kept in custody at the Outpost following a report of domestic violence made against her, the police said. She was subsequently released on bail.
The Police Constable identified has been placed under close arrest as the investigations continue, police said.
