T&HD ‘completes’ Stabroek Stelling repairs

The Transport and Harbours Department (T&HD) on Monday completed rehabilitation works on the northern section of the Stabroek Ferry Stelling.

T&HD General Manager, Marclene Merchant said that the damage was caused due to constant mooring during the period in which the Demerara Harbour Bridge was non operational.

The Government Information Agency (GINA), in a press release, quoted Merchant as saying “After it was brought to our attention…a maintenance team was dispatched to execute works…works commenced on Friday, August 3 and concluded on Monday, August 6.”

The release said that the T&HD has been constantly executing rehabilitation works on both ends of the stelling but stated that due to the constant mooring of passenger boats on timber structures there has been constant deterioration.
