US debate overtakes Parliament

Several Bills were last evening deferred after Members of Parliament indicated that they wanted to go home and view the televised final debate between US President Barack Obama and his Republican opponent Mitt Romney.

The President Benefits and Other Facilities Bill 2012, the Fiscal Management and Accountability Bill 2012 and Khemraj Ramjattan’s Telecommunication Bill and Public Utilities Commission (PUC) Bill were among the business of the National Assembly, which was deferred to Thursday November 8.

The sitting, which had been expected to last until much later, ended at around 8.10 pm.
