Global Technology Inc. to train two players in computer technology

The organisers of this year’s NAMILCO Football Festival is now combining sport and education as they seek to get the best of both worlds for the players competing in the tournament.

In that regard, they have landed the assistance of Global Technology Inc, the leading computer learning institution in Georgetown.

On Thursday, former national hockey and badminton player overseas based George Melville, who helped found the institution, informed   the organizers of the company’s plan to offer two lucky recipients with scholarship awards.

Over the past eight (8) years, Global technology has awarded two players, selected by the organizers, places on the company’s foundation course in computer training.

The cost of the training is $30,000 each but Melville, the authorized agent for Apple Hardware / Software products, has agreed to provide the opportunity for the two players to undergo the entire training in computers for a total cost in excess of $400,000.

Melville is a former student of Queen’s College, who also attended the prestigious Cambridge University.

On Thursday Melville presented Club Secretary Lavern Fraser-Thomas with the Certificate of Commitment in the presence of Fruta Conquerors’ President Marlan Cole.

He has also offered to conduct a one-day Course for players who participate in the Fruta Conquerors Summer Camp scheduled for later this year.

Cole, in response thanked Melville for the sponsorship and
promised that those identified for the scholarships, grab the opportunity with both hands.

He described the offer as a once in a lifetime opportunity for the lucky players and expressed the hope that they make full use of it.
