The Aircraft Owners Association of Guyana (AOAG) is concerned at the direction which the probe into last Saturday’s fatal crash at Sparendaam has taken and has written to President Donald Ramotar on the matter.
This was revealed by AOAG spokesman Kit Nascimento when contacted yesterday by Stabroek News for a comment on the crash of the plane after it had taken off from the Ogle International Airport.
Nascimento told Stabroek News that the AOAG had convened an emergency meeting on the matter on Thursday and was not pleased with the direction in which the probe is headed. A letter was yesterday sent to President Ramotar on the matter. Nascimento declined to elaborate further.
The death of a pilot and a passenger in the crash has raised concerns about the airworthiness of the craft and whether the necessary steps had been taken to do due diligence on it. This matter is now with the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority. Under the regulations governing the aviation sector the President is required to appoint an investigating officer for crashes of this type.
