Batsmen find form in practice match

Several batsmen found form in a rain-affected limited overs game at the Everest Cricket Club ground between the national cricket team preparing for the upcoming regional season and a Rest Team.

The national team batted first and made 216/4 from 35 overs after a wet wicket allowed the game to commence at 1 p.m.

Assad Fudadin top scored with 53 from 64 balls before retiring after hitting three fours and the same number of sixes. Steven Jacobs then hit 45 not out from 37 balls with three fours and two sixes. Also finding some form were Rajendra Chandrika, who made 30 from 28 balls, Leon Johnson, who made 26 from 44 balls, and Christopher Barnwell who needed just 11 balls to score 20.

Trevon Griffith scored 18 at a run a ball putting on 56 for the first wicket with Chandrika from just 45 balls before Griffith was bowled by Brandon Bess.
Pacers Bess, Andre Stoll, Keon Joseph and off spinner Zaheer Mohamed each claimed one wicket.
The Rest Team, in reply, reach 112/5 after 25.2 overs before bad light ended the match.

They lost Robin Bacchus to fast bowler Ronsford Beaton for just four but   Richard Ramdeen struck four boundaries in 31 from 41 balls before he was bowled by off spinner Jacobs with the score 57.

Tagenarine Chanderpaul and Vishal Singh took the score to 104 before Chanderpaul was run out by for 30 from 59 balls. Singh perished soon after when he swept a delivery from Veerasammy Permaul to the mid wicket boundary where Fudadin completed the catch. Singh made 30 runs from 37 deliveries with three fours. Next ball Ricardo Adams sliced a catch to point to put Permaul on a hat trick, at which point the match was halted at 6pm due to the increasingly fading light. Permaul finished with 2-30 from 6 overs, Beaton 1-10 from 4 and Jacobs 1-25 from 7.
