Rotary Club of Demerara hosts medical outreach at Malali

Residents of Malali, Demerara River on Sunday benefited from a medical outreach exercise hosted by the Rotary Club of Demerara in collaboration with the Region 10 health officials.

According to a press release, 115 residents from a population of the 230 benefited from the exercise, the first the Club has hosted for the New Year. They were treated by medical practitioners in the areas of paediatrics, dentistry, orthopaedics, ophthalmology, and by general practitioners. There were also social workers, nutritionists, Rotaractors of Linden and Rotarians on hand to assist.

For all of its 20 years of service, Rotary Demerara has been hosting medical outreaches in far-flung communities countrywide. As part of this most recent venture, the Club also donated clothing to the community, which was presented to the head teacher of the school there. The Club’s next outreach exercise has been scheduled for March.
