Man wanted over 2011 murder of elderly woman

The police yesterday issued a wanted bulletin for Roger Brandt in relation to the 2011 murder of an elderly woman.

Police said that the Lot 169 Stevedore Housing Scheme, George-town man is wanted by the police for questioning in relation to the murder of 73 years old sweets vendor Najiean Sadick which occurred on March 3, 2011 at Lot 2115 Gaulding Place, South Ruimveldt, George-town.

Sadick, known as ‘Khirul Rajidam’ and ‘Aunty,’ 73, was found with her hands and feet bound and a gag placed in her mouth. A few students from the South Ruimveldt Secondary School had ventured into the woman’s yard to purchase confectionary and finger foods and after making several calls, the students stumbled upon the woman’s body on her kitchen floor on the bottom flat of her home.

A piece of netting material was tied around the woman’s neck while her hands were bound at the back with a piece of cloth. Sadick made a living by selling food items to passers-by. The upper flat of the woman’s house was ransacked and her belongings were emptied out of her wardrobe and cupboards. The police were called in after the discovery was made.

An autopsy later found that she died as a result of a fractured spine, compounded by a compression injury to the neck.
