Local delegation at Commonwealth parliamentary forum in Barbados

A team of parliamentarians including Prime Minister Sam Hinds is currently attending a Commonwealth parliamentary forum in Barbados.

A release yesterday from Parliament office here said that Speaker of the House, Raphael Trotman; Prime Minister Hinds; Minister of Housing and Water, Irfaan Ali; APNU’s Dr Rupert Roopnaraine; Dr. Vindhya Persaud of the PPP/C; Catherine Hughes of the AFC; Robin Motayne, Youth Parliamentarian and Jocette Bacchus, Clerk of Committee are currently in Barbados attending the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association’s 39th Annual Regional Conference of the Caribbean, the Americas and the Atlantic Region in Bridgetown, Barbados, from July 25, 2014 to August 2, 2014.

The conference is being held under the theme “Forging Ahead in a Hostile Global Environment” at the Hilton Barbados in Bridgetown. The release said that it is being used as a tool to investigate progress made by the Branches of the Region in achieving “Benchmarks for Democratic Legislatures”.
