Cops nab suspected bandit after UG Road stick-up

The suspect in a knife-point robbery will soon faces charges after he was arrested by police with the phone he was reported to have stolen along with the weapon used in the attack.

According to a police force press statement, the robber attacked Michael Gupta, 19, of No. 2 Village, East Canje, Berbice, at about 1:35pm, while he was standing at University of Guyana Access Road, at Turkeyen, East Coast Demerara.

The robber allegedly held Gupta at knife-point and took away his iPhone.

Police said that ranks of a mobile police patrol that was in the vicinity were informed shortly after the attack and they managed to apprehend the perpetrator, who had escaped on a bicycle. The stolen iPhone and a knife that was in the suspect’s possession were recovered, police added, while noting that the man will be charged shortly.
