No charges yet in restaurant employee murder

No suspects have yet been charged in relation to the murder of Delicious Restaurant employee Debra Blackman.

A suspect had been held last Wednesday, but was not placed before the courts and it is unclear whether he is still in police custody.

Attempts made to speak with Crime Chief Leslie James and ‘A’ Division Commander, Senior Superintendent Clifton Hicken were unsuccessful.

Meanwhile, relatives of the dead woman are yet to be updated by the police. In an interview with Stabroek News last night, Blackman’s daughter Shelly Ann said that since her mother was killed nearly two weeks ago, she is yet to hear from the police.

Though she had heard reports of suspects being held, none of this information came directly from the police.

She added that she is planning to pay them a visit sometime today.

According to reports, the gunman walked into the restaurant which is located between Haley and Hardina streets and shot the woman in her head. Seconds after the shooting, the man was seen walking out of the restaurant and he subsequently jumped onto a CG motorcycle which sped off.

Footage later viewed by this publication picked up images of the shooter and others suspected to be his cohort.

A post-mortem examination later found that Blackman, 48, of Critchlow Circle, Tucville, died as a result of a single gunshot wound, which entered her shoulder and exited through her neck.
