Bartica police did a good job at this event

Dear Editor,

The Bartica IMC/NDC wishes to commend the Officer in Charge (OC) of Bartica Police Station on a job and effort well done on Friday, the 10th October, 2014 at the Bartica Secondary School ground as the GTU Bartica Branch was hosting their annual inter school championship sports.

A remarkable move was seen by the OC himself removing alcohol selling vendors from the school sports event. This move and effort by the police is highly commended by the IMC/NDC. The efforts by the police to minimise the level of alcohol use by the young people, and helping to bring to our attention that there is still need to have alcohol free zones is welcome. The IMC/NDC thanks the police for their effort in helping to make our community a better place. The police have been having success and their effort to make Bartica safe has not escaped the eyes of the IMC/NDC, kudos to the officer in charge of the Bartica police station. The IMC calls on parents/ guardians to support the police in their efforts to minimise the level of lawlessness and alcohol use among the young people in our community. The IMC would also like to acknowledge the GTU Bartica branch for a well-coordinated and incident free event.

In keeping with our open door policy the IMC stands ready and willing to partner with all groups to build bridges of hope for the further development of Bartica and its residents.

Yours faithfully,

Nanda Gonsalves
