Mon Repos man’s throat slit in Mash night attack

A Mon Repos man is now in hospital after his throat was slit during an attack on Monday night that is believed to have been the result of an old dispute.

According to a relative, Rajendra Singh was walking on the Mon Repos public road at about 9:30pm on Monday night when a car hit him. “When de car come and knock he, he musse curse de man or something and de man jus come out de car, cut he throat, and drive way,” the relative told Stabroek News, while noting that Singh’s assailant used a cutlass.

Singh was subsequently picked up by public-spirited persons, who rushed with him to the Beterverwagting Police Station. He was subsequently transported to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPH) after the ranks observed the extent of the wound, which was bleeding profusely at the time, the relative said.

Meanwhile, up to last evening, Singh’s relatives said, the suspect, who lives in the same village with the injured man, remained in hiding. It was noted that the men had a dispute over a year ago.
