Prosecutor Shawn Gonsalves said that the woman was employed with Dyal as a maid.

Dyal had secured his cash and jewellery and left on an overseas trip. Upon his return, he made checks and discovered the items missing.

A report was made and a check of Sookraj’s bag unearthed $100,000.

But Sookraj’s attorney said that her client was innocent and pleaded for reasonable bail to be granted to her given her profession.

Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry then set bail at $100,000 on the grounds that Sookraj lodge her passport with the court and that she report to the police every two weeks.

She will make her next court appearance on June 12th.
