Week of activities being held to mark Charlestown’s 50th

Starting with a service of Thanksgiving today at 10 am at the school, Charles-town Secondary’s Golden Jubilee will be marked with a series of activities which includes honouring its first headmaster the late Edgar Mordant Wilson as well as the late Peter Stanislaus D’Aguiar of Banks DIH who played a philanthropic role in the school’s development.

A rally tomorrow on World Teachers’ Day, will be followed by Career Day on Tuesday, an Open Day and Exhibition on Wednesday and the graduation and prize giving on Thursday.

A teachers’ Fun Day and a Barbecue and Lime on Friday and Saturday respectively, the latter of which is a fund-raising activity, will end the week of activities.

All of the activities will be held on the school’s premises.

Charlestown Government Secondary School, situated at the corner of Howes and Charles streets was officially opened on October 4, 1965.
