GFC seek to lock up quarter final spot against Den Amstel

West Demerara will invade Georgetown when the Mayor’s Cup Knockout Football Tourney continues today at the Georgetown Football Club (GFC) ground in Bourda with a doubleheader.

In the feature contest at 21:00hrs, home side GFC will lock horns with West Demerara giants Den Amstel in what promises to be an open and exciting affair.

Edging Uitvlugt in their earlier matchup to book their berth in the round of 16 section, GFC will attempt to seal their quarterfinal place at the expense of another West Demerara side and will look to their trident of Keron Solomon, Dwayne Fordyce and Kareem Knights to fire them to victory.

However Den Amstel will have other intentions in mind and with a berth in the final eight at stake, they will require a clinical showing from the likes of Delon Lanferman, Travis Hilliman and Andre Hector, if they are to emerge victorious.

The opening matchup of the doubleheader will witness the Guyana Police Force (GPF) locking horns with Clemente Browne led Pouderoyen FC from 19:00hrs.
