Payless Variety Store supports Fortune in quest for gold at World Masters C/ships

Payless Variety Store is onboard the Alicia Fortune express as the elite athlete travels to France.

Yesterday, the Wellington Street entity which is celebrating its 18th anniversary, agreed to be a benefactor to Fortune ahead of her international duties in the European country where she will compete at the World Masters Athletic Outdoor Championship next month.

Fortune’s sponsorship will be used to offset some of her airfare and accommodation expenses.

Rajan Tiwari representative of the store, presented Fortune with the monetary support as she aims to medal at the meet which will be staged in the city of Lyon from August 4-16.

Fortune will be competing in the 100, 200 and 400m events.

The same races she won gold in at the North, Central and Caribbean World Masters Athletics (NCCWMA) in Costa Rica last year.

The 40-year-old evergreen track star thanked Tiwari on behalf of Payless and noted that she will do her best while in Europe.

Tiwari wished Fortune the best of luck and encouraged her to do Guyana proud.
