The government should invite the opposition to discuss setting up of task forces for implementing a national agenda

Dear Editor,

The economic and social development of Guyana is dependent on our desire to work together in cohesion and utilize our great untapped natural resources for the prosperity of all Guyanese.

The government and the opposition must come together and find common ground and work together in the interest of all Guyanese. The continual bickering and distrust will take us two steps backward and the future of this nation could be bleak. This is not the future I envision for our next generations.

This APNU+AFC government should invite the opposition to an urgent meeting to discuss the possibilities of setting up various task forces for implementing an economic and national security agenda that can lift us out of this present wave of crime and economic decline. This would restore confidence in investors that Guyana and Guyanese are welcoming and ready to provide a stable climate for investments, so we can create more jobs for everyone and our spending power can be more than just living from one pay cheque to another.

In closing I say to the APNU+AFC and PPP/C it is time to put aside party politics and differences and work together in building a stronger and better nation.

Yours faithfully,

Andre Fortune
