Cops probing suspected drowning of Region One woman

The police are investigating the death of a 20-year-old Region One woman, who is suspected to have drowned in a river.

Danielly Daniels was pronounced dead on arrival at the Mabaruma Regional Hospital after her body was found submerged in a river at Morawhanna, North West District (NWD)

According to a Guyana Police Force statement, Daniels, of Hotoquai Village, NWD, was visiting her at aunt, Teresa Romaldo, at Morawhanna when the incident occurred.

Romaldo related to the police that she last saw Daniels about 7 am yesterday sitting at the wharf with her cellphone.

Around 7.30 am, she said she noticed that Daniels was missing and a search party was subsequently formed. Daniels’ body was found in the river by a resident of Morawhanna. Her body was fished out of the river and was rushed to the hospital where she was seen and examined by a doctor.

The body was placed in the hospital’s mortuary and a post-mortem examination is planned.
