I would like to draw the attention of the President or whoever is responsible for setting the fares for transportation of passengers from point A to point B.
I live at Moblissa, Newtown Settlement, and must travel to Linden or Georgetown to shop for groceries and fish, gas and kero. I am a pensioner of Region #4.
The fare to Linden has suddenly been raised to $300. This part of the highway has no electricity, so householders have no fridge to preserve meat, fish or even greens. The price of foodstuff is staggering to even the young much less the elderly.
I would like to go to the Diagnostic Centre at Diamond to check on the pain in my stomach but the fare is $700; the same fare as Linden to Georgetown. Is this price range fair? Moblissa, Newtown is nearly twelve miles below Linden and I am sure Diamond is about 16 or 18 miles from Georgetown; why are commuters expected to pay the Linden/ Georgetown fare? There are only three government employees at Silverhill and three or four chicken farms between Long Creek and Silverhill so the population depends on coal burning and social assistance.
Our Government owes the citizens of this country to provide public transport at affordable cost to all citizens. I have grandchildren, in many parts of the country, how am I to visit them at such costs? In other parts of the world the elderly travel at half price, with transfer tickets.
