WI cricket managers need to become emboldened
Dear Editor, The West Indies have once again lost a Test match, but was it all negative during the match?

Dear Editor, Just this week I was called a feminist and I considered it a compliment.
Dear Editor, Guyana is in a serious downward spiral and if fundamental changes are not programmed by a set of visionary and committed leaders that include leaders in civil society, there may be untold suffering for generations to come.
Dear Editor, I found a cartoon in a recent edition of Israel’s Jerusalem Post, and it reminded me of the few privileged ‘haves’ and the thousands of underprivileged ‘have-nots’ in our country struggling for their basic needs for life’s survival.
Dear Editor, There seem to be clear chinks in the armour of the Berbice Cricket Board, and its officials are taking all the necessary PR steps to avoid any scandal.
Dear Editor, I feel utter disgust, whenever personal, negative biases are directed against any individual, and when these are used (I should say misused) to evaluate any individual’s readiness and suitability for a position, I take even greater umbrage.
Dear Editor, There can be no plausible, no decent excuse that I can think of for the failure to host the Guyana Prize for Literature, the ceremony for which was to have been held at least a month ago as advertised earlier this year.
Dear Editor, Thank you for permitting me the opportunity to respond to the letter penned by Mr R Thompson which appeared in the Stabroek News of June 22 under the caption ‘Exporters experiencing inordinate delays.’
Dear Editor, Has the WICB gone further berserk? Of the 20 playing days of the India/WI ODI’s and Test matches, only 4 or 20% of those days are on weekends.
Dear Editor, A letter appearing in the Stabroek News edition of Thursday June 23, authored by John Yow, caught my attention and simultaneously provoked my wrath (‘Not all Lethem residents affected by the flood have been assisted’).
Dear Editor, My trip from Guyana to Bangladesh provided ample examples of the strides that have been/are being made by women in the field of employment with particular reference to breaking the so-called ‘invisible ceiling’ in occupations typically dominated by men, if not the exclusive domain of the male species.
Dear Editor, The important walkway across the creek that separates Pomona Village and Riverstown Village (Essequibo coast) was recently renovated at a cost which I do not know, but from using same I can say that it was well constructed.
Dear Editor, Mr John Yow’s letter to SN of June 23 titled ‘Not all Lethem residents affected by the flood have been assisted’ raised an issue which has been asked by many residents of the Rupununi and that relates to the apparent preferential treatment given to the Regional Executive Officer (REO) over the Regional Chairman (RC) which is most obvious in the way the RC has been seen moving around Lethem in the execution of his duties, by either walking or riding a bicycle while the REO and his subordinates are seen driving regional vehicles.
Dear Editor, Political power in this country is a zero-sum game thanks to the PNC and more pointedly to Forbes Burnham, who replaced a good (not great, but good) constitution with a monstrosity in 1980.
Dear Editor, Every day people living in Guyana are crying out about the economic hardship that faces them.
Dear Editor, I refer to Mr Sherwood Lowe’s letter published in your issue of Sunday, June 12 concerning the name of this country – is it the Co-operative Republic of Guyana or the Republic of Guyana?
Dear Editor, When I read the letter ‘No road shoulder in front of shop is a traffic hazard’(SN , June 15) I told customers at my shop that all I had to do was change ‘Suddie’ and replace it with ‘Betsy Ground,’ East Canje, as well as the name at the bottom, as the same situation occurs here.
Dear Editor, At the request of a well-respected sports columnist during a brief telephone conversation earlier in the week, I agreed to give an account of the 1999 Guyana Football Association AGM, and how Mr Klass retained the presidency.
Dear Editor, Recent follow-up discussions on how we in the Alliance for Change (AFC) will continue to prepare to correct the economic wrongs being perpetrated by the PPP government have sharpened our focus on the large current account imbalances that the PPP continues to saddle us with and how we plan to definitively reduce it to below 5%.
Dear Editor, In response to Mr Jinnah Rahman’s letter of June 22 (SN, ‘The Movement for Political and Economic Democracy promotes the idea of a government of national unity and reconstruction’), I must say that in all my years of political involvement in Guyana, I have never read such nonsense, but I excuse Mr Rahaman for trying to put words in my mouth which I never stated.
