Avoid perception military is dominant factor in gov’t

Dear Editor, I hereby propose the following for consideration by the people tasked with reforming the Constitution: To avoid the perception that the military is a dominant factor in government, that government is indisputably civilian and definably democratic, and that the military is subjugated to the government, and not the other way round, the number of military personnel should be limited in government.

Hard questions about race relations

Dear Editor, I note with interest what I believe may be the first ‘national conversation’ on race, which is covered under the caption, `Ethnic Relations Commission forum: Hughes advocates data gathering on impact of gov’t policies on each race’ (SN December 15). 

Tied Test

Monday was the Diamond Anniversary of the famous Tied Test between the West Indies and Australia which took place at the Brisbane Cricket Ground (BCG), in Queensland, Australia.
