Coaching upgrade workshop for local coaches starts today

A coaching upgrade workshop is scheduled today from 9am to 3pm at the National Gymnasium for the coaches employed by the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB).

GCB Cricket Develop-ment Officer Colin Stuart, yesterday said after this session the coaches should be able to more efficiently disseminate additional information to the players.

Michael Hyles will direct the programme, while tackling Bio-mechanics and the bowling aspect of coaching. Two other senior coaches will be facilitators Mark Harper, the former Bermuda national team coach who will handle batting, while Vibert Johnson will be responsible for fielding and wicket keeping.

The GCB is also planning two more seminars early in 2007; a level-1 programme for club coaches from Demerara and Essequibo is scheduled from January 25 to 28 and a level-2 seminar is slated to run from February 15 to 18, the second seminar is for coaches who have already completed the level-1 programme.

On Friday in West Demerara at the Region Three education office library, a seminar on umpiring and scoring for West Demera teachers has been scheduled.
