Lall urges local govt officers to give feedback to RDCs

Minister of Local Govern-ment and Regional Development Kellawan Lall has called on officials to be more proactive in their respective communities by paying visits to schools and health facilities to assess, monitor, evaluate and give feedback to the Regional Democratic Councils (RDCs). The Local Government Minister was addressing a training session for Local Government Officers from the 10 administrative regions last Thursday at the Guyana Agricultural and General Workers Union (GAWU) building, Kingston, the Government Information Agency (GINA) said in a press release.

Lall noted that such interactions allow him to meet with the top officers in the region to synchronise the goals for national development, regardless of personal persuasion and philosophy, the release stated.

Presentations were made to the participants on several areas including monitoring and evaluation of local government sections, record keeping, complaints and investigations and data collection, compilation and storage. The ministry has coordinated similar events for senior engineers and work superintendents and regional chairmen, vice-chairpersons and regional executive officers to build capacity for the local government reform process, the release added.
