GCA Under-19 40-over cricket competition

The Georgetown Cricket Club (GCC), helped by quick-fire unbeaten 155 from national U-15 batsman Jeetendra Sookdeo, soundly defeated Richard Ishmael Secondary School by 257 runs in the Georgetown Cricket Association’s Uunder-19, limited-overs cricket competition at the Guyana National Corporation Ground (GNIC) on Friday.

GCC amassed 325 for five from their allotted 40 overs with Sookdeo slamming 19 fours and eight sixes scoring 155 not-out from 85 balls. Shane Seebaran supported well scoring 64 which included eight fours and three sixes while Elon Fernandes scored 37 laced with three sixes and Rayad Hamid, 24, including three fours and one six.

The GCC bowling also overwhelmed the Woolford Avenue team as a combined effort between off-spinner Parmanand Ramkissoon and left-arm pacer Quacy Maxwell saw them running through the batting taking five for seven and five for 31 respectively as Richard Ishmael Secondary were skittled out for 68 in 17 overs.

Ryan Rajmangal top scored with 55 as Everest beat Ace Warriors by 115 runs at the Camp Road ground. Everest scored 168 all out from 35 overs with Rajmangal hitting six fours. Mahendra Singh scored 23 and Leon Scott 20. Colin McPherson picked up 3-22, Sheldon Benjamin grabbed 2-29 and Rawle Enmore nabbed 2-42.

Ace Warriors could not handle the Everest bowling and crumbled for a paltry 53 in 22.1 overs. Pacers Scott, who picked up 4-8 and Rajendra Ramkellawan with 3-11 were the main wreckers for Everest.

Meanwhile, at the Gandhi Youth Organisation (GYO) ground, St. Stanislaus beat Queens College by seven wickets.

Queens College, led by Loy Squires with 39 and 36 from Kevon Williams scored 170 all out.

Kizan Brummell grabbed 4-9 and Mohamed Rasheed 3-28 bowling for St. Stanislaus who, in reply, knocked off the runs losing only three wickets.

Stephen Harris blasted eight fours and a six top scoring with 57 while Maursley Tain supported with 40 not out.

And, at the Police Sports Club ground at Eve Leary in the closest encounter of the day President’s College beat Police by 17 runs.

President’s College scored 157 all out in out in 28 overs with Ishri Persaud scoring 22 and Earl Henry, 21. Samuel Pinder picked up 4- 47 and Akeem Jeffery 3- 26. Police, in reply, were bowled out for 140. Pinder top scored with 44 while Vishal Mohabir picked up three for 23 and Mahesh Latchman 3-24 bowling for President’s College.
